I think I have just stumbled upon a really great game, well, a potential great game, at least. Good thing about it is that it is a PS3 exclusive (take that, Microsoft)! The game that I am talking about is called MAG (a.k.a. Massive Action Game) and even though I have just recently heard about it, MAG is already shaping up and is already looking like a great game.

MAG is an MMOFPS game (Massive Mulitplayer Online First Person Shooter) slated to be released exclusively for the PS3 in November of 2009. MAG is basically one giant first person shooter game with online matches that can hold up to 256 pe0ple, which is the most amount of people that can be supported like that in online matches that I have ever heard of, of any game in existance. MAG’s storyline details have yet to be revealed, but online modes have been described by game developers and people are already taken back and are impressed by the news.

MAG works like this. MAG’s multiplayer matches are played on big levels, (and I mean BIG levels) and there are many teams that can be joined, but the teams all depend on how many people are playing in a single match. Teams work like platoons and within those platoons are squads. You, as the individual, are assigned to a squad and you basically have to go around the level as a squad, but help out the platoon at the same time. This creates a more realistic style of gameplay and the game becomes more tactical instead of using a run and gun approach like many other FPS games beforehand. If you are killed, you have to wait until the person who serves as the commander of your team to call in reinforcements, in which you can come back to life if you have been killed just before (cool, huh?). This makes the game feel a lot more realistic even though there still is no possible way for actual, real life people to respawn back into life again ( That would be cool if it were possible, you have to admit).

I wish that I could give more details, but yet, I cannot, because theres not much details already said about MAG itself, so we’ll have to wait (ugh…) for more detials to be released by the planned makers of MAG. My anticipation for this game is actually pretty high and I can’t wait to get my gamer hands onto this game!

Hello again, people’s of the world! It’s Mike again and I hope your all excited (which I’m sure you’re all not) for the Playstation 3 E3 announcements, woohoo!… (cue cricket sounds)

Sony has made some big announcements for the Playstation 3  at E3 2009. Just like Microsoft for the 360, Sony is also creating their own motion sensor and voice capture technology for the Playstation 3, thus expanding the capabilities of the Playstation 3. I know last post I had stated the new Metal Gear Solid game was being released as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but thanks in part to the new technology that Sony is developing, the new Metal gear Solid game is also slated to be released for the Playstation 3 as well (yay). So now, theres really no reason for me to complain at all.

Sony also has made numerous game announcements including God of War III, Prototype, MAG, Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian and much much more that’ll have PS3 owners something to look forward to.

Sony also premiered the PSP Go, which is an update on their already made handheld system, the PSP which has become moderately poular. The PSP Go is expect to cost $250 and is not going to run on UMD’s(Universal Media Disc) anymore from then on when it is released.

From the looks of things, the rivalry between Microsoft and Sony is only going to heat up and escalate and these companies are going to put each other to the test and they will both try to beat each other out as much as they can (which I’m sure will be an overall entertaining battle).

I am currently very mad at Microsoft and the Xbox 360, but before I get to that, I’m gonna bore everybody with the big announcements that Microsoft has made in regards to the Xbox 360. What I consider to be the biggest announcement for the Xbox 360 is the new motion sensor technology that is being developed for the console. Project “Natal,” as it is called by Microsoft, is a motion sensor camera and voice recognizer that utilizes full body movements and sounds to play various video games, eliminating the purpose of using a simple controller. I think it was a dumb move for Microsoft, but I can’t really complain because it’s like I would be making fun of the Nintendo Wii, which almost uses the same exact technology (sort of). So, I won’t upset the Xbox fanboys with my rhetoric… even though I want to really bad. Then you have announcements for games such as the Rock Band: Beatles game, the new Splinter Cell: Conviction game,  the new Lionhead project called “Milo” and then you have much, much more that was announced, but I was too lazy to mention, because there was (actually) a lot to say.

The most upsetting announcement that I have heard from the Xbox 360 press conference and probably one of the biggest personal upsets for me concerning any game announcement (ever) is that a new Metal Gear Solid game is slated to be released for the Xbox 360. The new project, entitled “Metal Gear Solid: Rising,” stars Raiden, a cyborg ninja supporting character from Metal Gear Solid 4 who is… well, a ninja. I am an owner of a Playstation 3 and I am pretty upset/mad about the news. One reason I am mad is because Metal Gear Solid is pretty much a Sony Playstation franchise… not a stupid Xbox 360 franchise… Microsoft must’ve payed off big bucks to Konami to allow this game to be made for the Xbox 360 ONLY, because Microsoft thinks they are “cool” like that. Another reason that it makes me mad to see a Metal Gear Solid game being made for the Xbox 360 is because so many people have a 360, that the Metal Gear Solid series is going to become so popular, that its not going to be as interesting to me as it is now. I feel like the series will have been ruined thanks to a stupid console such as the Xbox 360. The last reason that I am upset/mad is because well… YOU GET TO PLAY AS RAIDEN!!! He was probably one of the coolest video game charatcers ever and they just had to put him in a video game for a system that I nearly despise to death. So yeah, those are my reasons.

Although I adore the Metal Gear Solid series a lot, I hope the game fails, because that would just go to show what happens when you try too hard to get a great game franchise to be put on your console and to have it fail MISERABLY, so you would have wasted your money on a bad game. This could be possible because of that dumb “Natal” Project motion sensor gimmick, because the game is going to use such technology. If the game does eventually come out for the Playstation 3, then I will take all of the biased hate comments back and I will accept the game in its entirity (Yes… I am that biased)

I may sound like a Sony fanboy, but oh well, sometimes you’ll have to deal with it… Anyways, thats it for now. Today are the press conferences for Sony and for Nintendo, so maybe we’ll see some big announcements from those respective companies. We’ll just have to wait…

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (a.k.a. E3) is considered to be the biggest event in the modern gaming realm. E3 is a big gaming convention where game console companies and game developer companies showcase upcoming updates to popular and mainstream game consoles and the video games that are put out for those various systems. In more recent years, as the gaming industry has developed and has become one of the most popular American industries to be involved in today, a stronger fan following has developed and many people each year await in their own anticipation of the great things that are to come out. With all of the hype surrounding E3, some big announcements regarding the video games that are going to come out are sure to be made, which will please those giddy little school girl-like gamers who are dying to get their hands on some good gaming.

I have high hopes for the event and I feel that I will see some very satisfying announcements from many different game companies throughout the convention. I feel that there could be some major heartbreaks, but also, some major breakthroughs and good things which are sure to occur and which I hope will occur, or else I will have wasted some precious time… worrying about pretty much NOTHING!

I’ll post more news about the event as the event goes on and I am sure that it’ll be worth it… at least I hope, because if it doesn’t then… nevermind…

To start, I have to say that I am pretty angry right now at one game in particular. It is a very popular game these days, even with me, but lately, I’ve found this game to be rather frustrating and annoying, especially with the online play… basically, to say the least, I am decently pissed off.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the fourth main installment of the Call of Duty game series released by Activision, is a first person shooter game out for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC systems. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes place mostly in Russia and some parts in an unnamed Middle Eastern country and follows U.S. Marine Paul Jackson in a U.S. Marine military campaign in the middle east and the game also follows a British S.A.S. soldier named Soap MacTavish, who are both fighting in different places, but for the same cause, which is to stop a Middle Eastern terrorist faction from launching nuclear warheads into the U.S.

But enough about that. Considering that I beat the storyline, all I seem to do with Call of Duty 4 is play the online matches, because they are really really fun, but there are somethings online in Call of Duty 4 that tick me off a lot.

One of the things that really makes me mad with the online is that, lets say for example, that I am running away from an enemy that is shooting at me and I am running for cover behind a building. What happens to me a lot of the time is that I notice an enemy and I try to run for cover behind something and it’ll look as if I am safe, when out of nowhere, I die. That happens to me so often, that its finally gotten to the point where I find myself getting pretty mad and throwing a fit because of it, just because of how frequently it happens and how inconvenient it is for me to be killed in such a cheap looking fashion, that it makes me question how this game was made and how smoothly this game should be running.

Another thing that gets me mad are people who I like to call campers, or people who just try to annoy the hell out of you and that think that they are cool by staying in the same spot or staying in the same area of the level for a long amount of time. I see a lot and I mean a lot of these people online and I have to say that its rather pathetic, I can’t help but laugh at them when they get killed cause that just shows what happens when you become a cheap player like that. The worst campers are those that don’t just stay in the same exact spot, but those who stay within the same area, that being like within a 10 foot radius of where they were originally spotted. Like, lets say I walk into a room and I get killed. i’m gonna go back and try and find that same person, but when I go back in the room they are sitting in a different spot but are in the same room. That’ll tick me off even more. Me being that stubborn, I’ll keep on trying to kill that same guy no matter what and even if they do eventually leave the spot they’ve been sitting in for the past, i’ll waste my precious time to look for them throughout the match to seek some well deserved revenge on their sorry self.

A last thing that annoys me with online, probably the worst in my opinion are laggers, people who have the worst possible internet connection ever and that chug across the levels and kill people in the most bogus ways you can ever imagine. For example, I’ll spot a lagger and I’ll go chase them. I’ll go to shoot them with a full clip of ammo and every single bullet will miss the enemy. Then, they turn around and kill me in a couple of shots. That annoys me so bad, that it makes me want to personally go to that persons house and beat them with their own controller. Most laggers seem to only play online matches like that to piss people off and to gain a slight advantage in online matches because they are able to dodge bullets in a cheap fashion and kill other players who have good internet connections in a cheap fashion.  People do it so much, that they learn how to do really good online with a bad connection and use the lag to help them out significantly. I hate it so bad!

Well anyways, to sum things up, Call of Duty 4 is still a fantastic game and I recommend it to anybody for that matter. Its just that sometimes, people really know how to tick you off and sometimes and ruin a good gaming experience for other players who don’t deserve to suffer through such blasphemy. I should go play some online right now and teach some of them a lesson and make them suffer for being so ridiculously cheap. Let me put it this way, I thought it was going to be a failure when in actuality, it wasn’t. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is actully a fun game. I remember about a week ago when I saw my friend playing it, and I told him that it probably sucks, but he looked like he was having fun when he was playing it, so I became a little skeptical about the whole thing.

I went home and I downloaded a demo for my Playstation 3 and I tried it out, and I have to say it was pretty fun. I mean, X-men Origins: Wolverine felt a little too similar to a  game such as God of War, because it pretty much had the same gameplay mechanics and was presented in the same style that God of War was put into, but it also had its own edge to it too make it fun. Theres a decent combo system and the controls aren’t too clunky, which I like that in a game, because nobody likes a game where your character that you are playing as can move very well at all. it ruins the speed of the game. I mean, there are some pretty obvious glitches to be found such as a frozen camera, where the game is still going but the camera moves in a weird way and makes it hard to focus back on the player. but something like that could be forgiven if its easy to fix.

Overall, I actually found it to be quite a fun game. I even managed to catch the latest edition of Game Informer magazine and they gave it an 8 out of 10, which is good and the review surprised me because the reviewer praised the game a little. Now I kinda feel stupid for making fun of my friend for a supposedly bad game, but I still stick to my word and I will still go back to my philosophy that nearly all movie video games are horrid and nobody should have to suffer through something as catastrophic as that.

The last movie video game that was made that I remember actually being good was 007 Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64, which was a revolutionary first person shooter released at the time, for its fun and exciting gameplay value. Although first person shooters and third person shooters are very different, I think that they need to be compared as movie games.

Even though I’m saying that I wouldn’t buy it because I think it will be ridiculously bad, I’m sure that many other people would go out and buy it anyways, because a lot of people think that the movie will be great, so they might go out and and pick up the video game because it looks good as well. For me, its not about the quality of the look of the game, it about the quality of the gameplay and what makes a game fun. Who knows, I could be wrong about Terminator Salvation.

If the Terminator Salvation video game has great gameplay value, I might reconsider and actually buy the game. After all, I really can’t say much because I have not seen reviews or actually have played it myself. If I do hear from other people that it is bad, I will keep my word and not go out to buy it because that would just waste my money and valueable time.

I will go see the movie for I am sure that it will be great, but there’s still always that chance that the movie actually will suck, which would hurt me deeply, because I’ve been waiting for this movie for the past year or so… sad, but true. Anyways, that all I have to say for now. Thanks for reading my semi-pointless post
